A vehicle parked under the porch of a building on rue Louis Jouvet caught fire, triggering a series of incidents which required the evacuation of residents and the confinement of schoolchildren.
A flaming gas leak after the fire
The fire, which started from a parked car, spread to a nearby gas box. The intense heat damaged the installation, causing a leak of flaming gas. The 18 apartments in the building concerned were immediately evacuated as a precaution, while around twenty firefighters intervened on site to bring the situation under control.
Schools confined for safety reasons
Two nursery schools located in the immediate vicinity of the fire were also impacted. The students and their teachers were confined to their establishments while firefighters and GRDF teams secured the area. This measure made it possible to avoid any risk for children.
No injuries, but rehousing necessary
Fortunately, the incident caused no casualties. Neither the residents nor the schoolchildren were inconvenienced by the fumes. However, material damage remains significant. Gas distribution in the area remains disrupted, and several occupants of the building will have to be relocated in the coming days.
Rapid and coordinated intervention
The rapid intervention of firefighters and GRDF agents made it possible to limit the consequences of this impressive fire. An investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances of the fire.
