The events took place in the city of Madison, Wisconsin, this Monday, December 16, in the Christian school Abundant Life Christian School. At least three people died in a shooting according to information from CNN. The shooter was a minor and was reportedly found dead by law enforcement, according to local police chief Shon Barnes who said “Today is a sad day.”

“When police arrived, they found several victims suffering from gunshot wounds” said police at the scene. At least nine people, including children, were taken to the hospital, according to Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes.

Minor suspect found dead

The person suspected of opening fire is a minor who was found dead by the police. “Officers located a minor in the building who they believe was responsible for the deaths.”said Shon Barnes. “We believe the shooter was a student at the school”before specifying that the police department did not use its weapons.

President Joe Biden was briefed on the shooting, his principal deputy press secretary Emilie Simons said. “Senior White House officials are in contact with their local counterparts in Madison to provide support as needed”.

I am closely monitoring the incident at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison. We are praying for the kids, educators, and entire Abundant Life school community as we await more information and are grateful for the first responders who are working quickly to respond.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers also paid tribute to the victims in a post on X, where he said “We pray for the children, educators and entire school community of Abundant Life”
