Unveiled more than two years ago, the Marshall Emberton II is a small, very stylish, solid and durable Bluetooth speaker. A great gift idea for Christmas, moreover, especially since we currently find it at 99.99 euros instead of 169.99 euros at Cultura.
In the market for wireless and compact speakers, Marshall models are generally popular, largely thanks to their recognizable vintage design based on imitation leather covering, acoustic grille and brass-colored buttons. We find this touch on the very durable Marshall Emberton II speaker, which is not only pretty, but also rather effective. The good news is that a few days before Christmas, it's almost half price.

Discover Audio-Technica's legendary sound signature
Our opinion: “It’s hard not to like the restitution of the Audio-Technica ATH-M50xBT2 headphones! The Japanese manufacturer delivers headphones that should delight many ears. Hat.”
Almost identical to the first model that preceded it, the Marshall Emberton II speaker comes in the form of a small brick that is easy to carry thanks to its featherweight of only 700 g. It is also easy to handle, thanks to its adherent coating. And to make matters worse, this Bluetooth speaker is entitled to IP67 certification, which allows it to be used in dusty environments or near water. However, if you immerse it, wait for it to dry completely: the wet fabric prevents high frequencies from passing through.
In terms of design, the Marshall Emberton II has this famous imitation leather covering which strongly reminds us of the design of the brand's amps. Its quality of finish is simply impeccable and the little golden touches are very appreciable. We would still have liked Marshall to add an anchor point, to attach a cord for example. The speaker is also equipped with a single control button, but beware of possible mishandling; We therefore prefer to use the voice assistant of a smartphone to more easily adjust the volume or move to the next title.
A very reassuring autonomy
On the audio side, the Marshall Emberton II has two small broadband transducers measuring 4 cm in diameter, each associated with a passive radiator, which in theory allows the reproduction of low frequencies to be extended and its output to be increased, despite its low volume. internal air. The transducers are also equipped with a double neodymium motor (magnet) to improve their performance at high frequencies; in the absence of tweeting, this is rather good news. But despite all these great promises, the Emberton II lacks nerve, and its compact format as well as the choice of small transducers prevent it from correctly reproducing low frequencies. For the rest, midrange and treble are appreciably linear and relatively soft. The sound is certainly harmonious, but we would have really liked more punch. And outdoors, its lack of tone makes it difficult to intelligible, especially in quite noisy places.
The Emberton II makes up for it with its excellent autonomy. If the brand announces up to 30 hours of listening time, in practice, the speaker lasted a little more than 21 hours at 50% of its maximum volume during our test, which is already very good. The speaker can also be used while charging, which is quite handy in an emergency. Finally, approximately 3 hours are needed to fully recharge the Marshall Emberton II.
