After its defeat last week, Forchies wanted to make up for it at home for the last championship match of the year. For its part, Gerpinnes intended to continue its series of invincibility on the road. On fairly thick ground, the 22 players did not find the solution in the first half, and brought too little danger into the opposing rectangle. The Philamarchois coach, Nabil Baiz, highlighted this lack of precision: “We didn’t put the goalkeeper in danger today because we weren’t sharp at finishing. It wasn’t a good football match. In the first half we had 3 or 4 shots off target, because we are missing the last gesture Unfortunately we concede a gag goal, these are things that are part of football.

A stopped phase which unlocks the match

Returning from the locker room, it was the Gerpinois who were the most dangerous, and it was they who opened the scoring with a free kick. It is Nicolas Digiugno who opened the scoring on a set piece 40 meters from the goal, in the 50th minute of play. The Gerpinnois surprised the Philamarchois goalkeeper who was lobbed on his line. The Gerpin coach, Juiseppe Di Maggioknew that this type of match was going to be played out on details: “We knew it would be difficult and that there would be some accountability. I told my players that the first to score would surely win the match, and that it would come down to details. This was confirmed today “Today we were very good in the duels, the team was responsive.”

Apart from this goal, the second half resembled the first: not many clear chances and a lot of imprecision on both sides. Gerpinnes did not give up and continued its series of invincibility on the road. The Gerpinnois are now in 2nd place in the ranking with 38 points, while the Pompiers go down to 4th place, with 35 points. The next meeting this year for Forchies will be in the Coupe du Hainaut next week against Gosselies.
