The tragedy took place this Saturday. The victims' car veered off course and collided head-on with an oncoming truck.
Four people, including an infant, died in a road accident this Saturday, December 14 near Vesoul, AFP learned from the prefecture, confirming information from France Bleu Besançon. The collision occurred around 2:30 p.m., on national road 19 towards Lure, in the commune of Frotey-lès-Vesoul.
The victims' car, an Audi, deviated from its trajectory for a reason still unknown, and hit a truck arriving opposite, detailed the prefecture. The three adults occupying the car, two men and a woman, died instantly, and the baby, a little girl, could not be saved by emergency services. The identity and age of the victims are not known at this stage.
Since the start of the year, 2,926 people have died on the roads in France according to Road Safety data, an increase of 2% compared to the same period last year.
