Tuesday, December 10, 2024, a childminder was indicted for “intentional homicide” and placed in pre-trial detention as part of an investigation opened after the death of a 21-month-old baby.
The autopsy revealed death by asphyxiation. On September 13, a 21-month-old little girl died in Chessy-les-Mines, in the Rhône, while she was with her nanny. She was taken into custody last Thursday.ur “intentional homicide of a minor under 15 years of age”, revealed Progress. This Tuesday, the Lyon Prosecutor's Office announced that the childminder had been indicted, before being placed in pre-trial detention, reports France 3.
The tragedy took place 3 months ago. On September 13, around 3 p.m., emergency services intervened at the nanny's home. When they arrived, the little girl had already died, they could only note the death.
The results of the autopsy pointed to a criminal lead
An investigation was opened and entrusted to the gendarmes of the Villefranche-sur-Saône company. It was ultimately the result of the autopsy which directed the investigations towards the nanny. Aged 42, the childminder who had been working for around fifteen years would have contested the facts while in police custody.
