Doctor Yasmina Dejean is a psychiatrist. She examined Kamel Mouliem in September and October 2021. Clara's murder had occurred a few weeks earlier. Is it this proximity to the facts? She notes “a sadness and obvious astonishment” in the accused, described as “consumed by guilt”. On the facts, he also speaks rationally, recounting his suspicions of jealousy. “Maybe there was nothing and it wasn't that serious. » He concedes “having lacked lucidity”, evokes a context of exhaustion, between the birth of their baby and his job as a poultry inseminator. On the evening of the incident, he decided not to go to work, and spent the evening drinking, smoking cannabis and taking cocaine. “It made me have a breakdown, I ruined my family,” he told her.
“Egocentric personality”
This flash of insight seems so far away, three years later. For two days, before the Assize Court, Kamel Mouliem has locked himself in his sickly jealous delusions, and refutes having strangled his partner, sticking to admitting a slap and a punch which would not explain, according to him, his death. Doctor Dejean had detected this “total ignorance of the violence he was able to inflict”. She concludes with “a self-centered personality, with violent behavior in situations of frustration”. And precisely, the arrival of the baby, four months earlier, “creates a triangulation which destabilizes him”.
“Between seduction and intimidation”
The psychologist Loïk Villerbu carried out an assessment of the accused in 2022. He will see him three times because “he was in permanent digression”, which is more consistent with the face he offers to the jurors of the Assize Court. He describes him as “centered on himself, very insensitive to the suffering of others. Concretely, if there is someone responsible, it’s not him, always someone else.” His story with Clara is “characteristic”: “He expects her to be the image he wants: centered on himself. However, she has other interests. He will oscillate between seduction and intimidation. This is how their relationship is built: for him, he gives and never receives enough.”
“His defensive system is denial”
The springs are, according to him, in place: “He started in a form of obsessive verification. For him, to be jealous is to love. He reversed the meaning of the term. There is no equality possible, he is in charge.” The president tells him that he had renamed Clara, choosing the first name “Maria”. For the psychologist, “he renames it, in the same way that he recreates its existence. He makes it his thing.” As for the murder, which occurred on August 17, 2021, “he is, in his eyes, not the one responsible for the situation”. The effect of the blows he dealt “could not have put Clara in this state. The doubt is manifest and permanent as to whether he is responsible. His defensive system is denial.”
