A Russian attack on a private clinic in Zaporizhzhia on Tuesday killed at least four people, and 20 others were injured, including a 5-year-old girl.
The head of the local administration Ivan Fedorov previously reported that one of the victims was brought back to life.
“His condition is serious, but we believe in the best and thank our doctors,” Mr. Fedorov said, adding that afterward another body was extracted from the rubble.
Several people may still be under the rubble, and their status is currently unknown.
Fedorov also clarified that the strike was carried out with a ballistic missile, probably “Iskander-M”.
The strike, apart from destroying a private clinic, damaged neighboring buildings. The shock wave and shrapnel damaged multi-story apartment buildings and cars of residents in the area.
Partial destruction was also recorded in a school and an after-school center. Currently, doctors, police officers and the state emergency service are working at the site.
Zaporizhzhia has already been targeted by a Russian strike last Friday. The bombing caused a fire at a gas station and lighting problems in some communities.
At least nine people were killed in this attack, six others, including two children aged 4 and 11, were injured.
After the Tuesday strike, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky noted that “each of these strikes proves that we need to increase the capabilities of our air defense. The world has enough systems to do this. We have transmitted to our partners all the requests for air defense systems, whether Patriot systems or other systems that can effectively protect lives.”
“The only question is political decisions,” he continued. “And these are the decisions of the American administration, the decisions of European leaders, the decisions of other partners around the world. Decisions that can save thousands of lives and make Russian terror insignificant.”
During a meeting with the head of the Socialists and Democrats Group of the European Parliament, Iratxe García Pérez, in Kyiv, President Zelensky said that 10-12 additional Patriot systems are capable of ensuring full protection of airspace Ukrainian.
