A heavy goods vehicle on fire this Monday evening on the A9 motorway near Vergèze in the Gard.
THE Gard firefighters intervened Monday December 9, 2024, around 9:15 p.m., on the A9 motorway near Vergèze. A heavy goods vehicle, loaded with cork, paper and furniture, burst into flames, causing a fire which spread to the surrounding vegetation.
Faced with the fire, 24 firefighters from SDIS 30 were mobilized. Firefighters managed to stop the spread of the fire and bring the flames under control around 10 p.m.
Traffic on the A9 motorway, in the Montpellier-Orange direction, was severely disrupted for around two hours. The teams of Vinci Highways and the national gendarmerie secured the scene to allow the charred carcass of the truck to be removed safely.
