A puck enthusiast
“For more than two years, I have been organizing numerous competitions which attract up to 50 teams on average. The idea of creating an association in Saint-James came naturally to me. It is ideally located to bring together players from all the surrounding areas who are in demand,” explains Alain Guillard, resident of Montanel, shuffleboard player for over fifty years.
He welcomed the support of the municipality: Christelle Letellier, executive secretary, and Maryvonne Bodin, assistant in charge of associations, supported my project from the start.

Two competitions per year
One of the immediate objectives was the formation of an office. Very quickly, the group dynamic encouraged several volunteers, men and women from the surrounding area, who stood up to offer their services. Alain Guillard welcomed this diversity:
Women and children are increasingly present in competitions. The number of new shuffleboard players grows incredibly from year to year. This sport, open to all, is experiencing remarkable enthusiasm which is quickly conquering Normandy! I plan to organize two competitions per year, one in summer, one in winter.

The membership fee has been set at €25 per year, with free membership for under 15s. It's cheaper than in many clubs but our objective is to invest in equipment while remaining accessible to everyone. The Saint-Benoît cultural center in Saint-James will welcome us on Fridays from 2 to 10 p.m., so people can arrive at a time that suits them. The equipment will be loaned on site.
The Palet Club Saint-James will soon be able to welcome its first members. With this new association, the city could become a central hub for shuffleboard enthusiasts.
The office quickly took shape around the person of Alain Guillard, president, Romain Lumé (from Saint-Quentin-sur-le-Homme) vice president, Jérémy Levillayer (from Aucey la Plaine) treasurer, and Fanny Henry (from Saint-Quentin-sur-le-Homme) secretary and five other members.
