The Jamaican striker had to be airlifted following a serious road incident.
Jamaican footballer Michail Antonio of West Ham United is reported to be stable and conscious after suffering a serious road traffic accident in the Essex area of England, as confirmed by the London club. The 34-year-old international striker was airlifted to hospital following the incident involving the Ferrari he was driving.
The English club initially reported the accident without providing details on the player’s condition. “The thoughts and prayers of everyone at the club are with Michail, his family and friends at this difficult time,” West Ham added in its first statement. Subsequently, the club issued a new notification confirming that the international player “is stable and communicating” and is currently hospitalized in central London, while asking for respect for the family’s privacy.

Antonio enters his tenth season with West Ham, having joined the club from Nottingham Forest in 2015, and has scored 83 goals in 323 appearances. Following news of the accident, several rival clubs began sending messages conveying their “best wishes” to the player and his loved ones. “Everyone at Arsenal sends their love, support and best wishes to Michail, his family and West Ham United,” read a message posted on social media by Arsenal, while Chelsea also shared their “ Thoughts for Michail and his family.”
