Elliot Eastman, a 26-year-old American who moved to the Philippines, was reportedly killed by two gunshots while trying to escape a kidnapping attempt.

Police told The Associated Press that they had received a report of a kidnapping. On October 17, men allegedly posed as police officers to approach Elliot Eastman in the coastal town of Sibuco. The individuals then allegedly tried to kidnap the YouTuber, who used his force to try to escape them. As responses, the criminals allegedly shot him with two M16 rifle bullets in the thigh and abdomen. Then, they allegedly put his body on a small speedboat and threw it overboard in the open sea. However, no body has yet been found.

During a press briefing, the Philippine police reiterated their full commitment to trying to find the murderers of Elliot Eastman, emphasizing that several people had already been arrested, but released. The AP recalls, for its part, that three suspects were killed during a shootout with the police last month when the spokesperson for the regional police, Lieutenant-Colonel Ramoncelio Sawan, promised to continue his investigations.
