A ceremony to honor the victims of the floods which hit the south-east of Spain at the end of October will be held in Valencia on Monday December 9. King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia plan to attend this mass which will take place in the city's cathedral.
The Archbishopric of Valencia, at the origin of this initiative, indicated in a press release that the event would be dedicated “to the missing people and to all the victims” of bad weather. These floods caused the death of 230 people, mainly in the Valencia region. Four people remain missing to this day.
This will be the third trip by Spanish sovereigns to the Valencia region since the floods
This trip will be the royal couple's third to this region seriously affected by the torrential rains of October 29. During their first visit to Paiporta, one of the epicenters of the disaster, on November 3, the sovereigns, accompanied by the Spanish Prime Minister, Pedro Sanchez, were greeted by demonstrations and mud throwing, which forced them to cut short their passage.
