This Wednesday, December 4, the National Assembly will debate from 4 p.m. two motions of censure targeting the government of Michel Barnier. The different groups will have the opportunity to express themselves. The Prime Minister will then be able to respond before the vote. Only one government has been censured by the National Assembly until then, in 1962. For it to be adopted, a motion of censure must be voted for by an absolute majority of deputies. The threshold is set at 288 deputies out of 574.
Michel Barnier defended himself this Tuesday evening on TF1 et France 2 facing Gilles Bouleau and Anne-Sophie Lapix. The Prime Minister called on MPs to “responsibility reflex” pour “the best interest of the country”. An interview which does not seem to have convinced the socialists, who confirmed that they would vote for censorship. As for viewers, more than 10.3 million followed his statements on the first and second channels.
