Friday November 29, 2024 at the town hall, in front of attentive Lalbenquois residents, Liliane Lugol, mayor of Lalbenque in the Lot, spoke to recall the genesis of the Third Place project.

She recalled that it was the structuring project campaign in 2020 then she defined in a very educational way the meaning of the Third Place.

A co-constructed project in Lalbenque

After several field visits, the choice was made to form a group to co-construct the project bringing together elected and non-elected officials as part of support from Adefpat. Thus, the Third Place of Lalbenque took shape: why? To do what? For whom? How ?

In order to structure the reflection, the municipality quickly integrated this project into the stones of the town center. Thus, the presbytery, which had become unsanitary, was chosen. In agreement with the Diocese, Mr. the Curé was relocated to rue du Paradis in the house opposite the church.

Resource center, shared workspace and community café

The La Tresse association, born from this dynamic, works on 3 axes: the creation of a resource center, a shared work space and an associative and family café.

Isabelle Moretti, member of the association, presented the 3 axes which are taking place in temporary premises. She explained the work carried out with the CAF with the recognition of the third place as a Social Life Space. The third place is defined as a factory of links by networking private and public actors, institutional or associative, of the wider territory.

One million euros

In this context, Kevin Delon, deputy mayor, took the floor for a technical presentation in order to first present the financing plan which exceeds 1 million euros of investment. It highlighted all the difficulties encountered, the moments of doubt but also the satisfaction of achieving a situation of balance and coherence. Kévin Delon commented on the plans and highlighted responsible choices in terms of functionality, accessibility and ecological transition. The first shovels have taken place in recent days, the transformation of the historic center of Lalbenque has begun.

After questions from the audience, the meeting ended around a friendly drink with conversations which underlined the desire to see the project succeed. See you at the end of 2025 for the inauguration!
