The President of the Republic affirmed Tuesday that he could not “not believe in the vote of censorship” of the government of Michel Barnier, and added that he was “trust in the coherence of people”.
“My priority is stability”declared the head of state to journalists on the sidelines of his visit to Saudi Arabia. According to him, the National Rally would be a “unbearable cynicism” if he voted for the motion tabled by the left, “who insults his voters”while the Socialist Party, and in particular former president François Hollande, would demonstrate a “complete loss of bearings” by voting for censure.
The French president also affirmed that we should not “not scare people” by evoking a risk of financial crisis. “We have a strong economy”he judged. “France is a rich, solid country, which has made many reforms and which is maintaining them, which has stable institutions, a stable Constitution”he argued.
As for the calls for resignation from opponents targeting him, Emmanuel Macron believes that this is “political fiction” and assures that he had never thought of leaving the Elysée before the end of his mandate in 2027. “It doesn’t make sense”declared the President of the Republic. “It turns out that if I am here before you, it is because I was elected twice by the French people. I am extremely proud of it and I will honor this trust with all the energy that is mine until the last second to be useful to the country”he added.
