Presentation of the 2024 Regional Heritage Ribbon Prize in Pont-Saint-Esprit

This Tuesday, December 3, the Saint-Pierre Staircase in Pont-Saint-Esprit was at the heart of a moving ceremony which brought together elected officials, partners and representatives of the building.

Pierre Martin, president of the Building Federation, presented the regional Heritage Ribbons prize to the municipality, rewarding a superb restoration which highlights this emblematic place.

This prize is part of the 30th edition of the “Les Rubans du Patrimoine” competition. Organized in partnership with the Caisse d'Épargne, the Heritage Foundation, the Association of Mayors of , the French Building Federation and the Historic Monuments Group, this competition highlights the efforts of municipalities and intercommunities to rehabilitate their heritage . It awards three types of prizes: national, regional and departmental. “This prize ceremony is an opportunity to salute both the initiative of the municipalities, their partners, as well as the know-how of construction companies,” underlined Pierre Martin in his speech.

The rehabilitation of the Saint-Pierre Staircase, which offers a breathtaking view of the Rhône and the medieval bridge, is the result of 38 months of work. “Hours of work were necessary to highlight the technical aspects of our professions and the mastery of the gestures of our companions,” added Pierre Martin. This achievement, both mineral and plant-based, testifies to the excellence of French building.

The SELE company, responsible for the work, was congratulated for its meticulous work and its passion for the profession. “Building, renovating, rehabilitating is testimony to our incredible ability to resist adversity and time,” declared Pierre Martin, recalling the importance of perpetuating this know-how.

This renovation would not have been possible without the support of several partners: the DRAC, the Region, the Department, the Regional Prefecture, the Gard Rhodanien Agglomeration, the Heritage Foundation and of course the Town Hall, which financed 40% of the project.

Pierre Martin officially presented the prize to the commune of Pont-Saint-Esprit, once again saluting all those involved. A great recognition for a restoration which brings new life to this jewel of Spiripontain heritage.
