The end of emergency compensation is not acceptable to the group of Jura pediatricians (PedJu). The entity, which brings together all specialists in pediatrics and childhood and adolescent medicine, published a press release on Tuesday to denounce a decision taken this summer by the Federal Court. The TF has, in fact, indicated that insurers should no longer cover most of the taxes claimed by pediatricians for consultations outside conventional hours. Some funds are therefore demanding retroactive reimbursements over five years, which arouses the anger of specialists in the sector. “We are dismayed, disappointed and discouraged to discover to what extent our basic work is poorly recognized,” indicates the group of Jura pediatricians. The latter has therefore decided to refuse any reimbursement to health insurance funds until further notice. He also reserves the right to participate in the guards’ strike announced by Geneva pediatricians from the end of year holidays and without time limit.
PedJu points out that care is obligatory according to cantonal health law, but that it is not paid by the State. The group believes that this new situation will “certainly not encourage young doctors to receive specialist training in pediatrics, which will accentuate the already marked shortage in this discipline”. /comm-alr
