Nearly 200 people gathered this Tuesday morning in front of the Côte-d'Or prefecture, in Dijon, at the call of an inter-union of retirees. Daniel Noirot, spokesperson for the CGT retirees union, recalled that the demands are “always the same”. “We are demanding an increase in retirement pensions in accordance with the law which stipulates it. This means that pensions must be revalued in line with inflation. Currently, we have calculated that we are missing 10% of purchasing power on the amount of our pensions. » He states that, since 2008, pensions are no longer indexed to inflation.
Another demand concerns the sacralization of the social security budget. Daniel Noirot denounces the fact that the government wants to make between 3 and 4 billion euros in savings on this item of expenditure. “The idea is to save money on autonomy. It is planned to increase doctors' prices and there will be a transfer of the state budget to complementary funds. We demand that the social security budget be supplemented by employer contributions. »
“Wages are increasing, not pensions”
Among the demonstrators, Alain Le Douaron loudly proclaims the fact that he is not satisfied with his retirement plan. “We want a real increase in our pensions. As far as I am concerned, I receive €1,700 per month and I am not among the poorest. What is scandalous is that a majority of pensions are below the SMIC (interprofessional minimum wage for growth). Salaries are increasing but not pensions! »
