Fuel prices are increasing again at the start of December. A trend that is becoming worrying.
The news is bad everywhere the compartmentsas far as the automobile is concerned. Fuel prices are back to the rise. A trend that could lead to a next crisisif the increase continues.
Increases at all levels
All good things have an end. This summer, fuel prices reached levels very low. A trend that is no longer the same today. Indeed, fuels are experiencing a drastic increase in their prices for weeks.
An observation which is verified with the latest report from the Ministry of Ecological Transition on the price of gasoline in stations. Between the November 22 and 29we can thus see an increase in the price of diesel of 1.3 euro cents. The latter is now displayed, on average, at €1,654 per liter. As a reminder, this is the fifth week increasing immediately.
For its part, SP95-E10 gasoline also increases but in a way lighter. Between November 22 and 29, this fuel increased by 0.6 euro cents. In fact, we now find it at the pump at €1.7185/liter. The observation here is similar : this is the second increase in a row for this fuel In France.
Finally, the SP95 et the SP98 increased by 0.36 cents and 0.54 cents respectively. We find the latter two at €1.76/L and at €1.82/L.
Why can the price of fuel vary?
Fuel prices can vary significantly from one month to another. A variation which can be explained by the mechanisms which govern market prices. Among the factors that influence prices, we find the value of crude oil, the price of the barrel on international markets, the law of supply and demand or even taxation of the country in question.
It is therefore a whole process to take into account. In addition to this, there are international conflicts. Geopolitics can, in fact, have a significant impact on the evolution of prices.
The war in Ukraine as well as the conflict in Israel will increase prices at the pump. In fact, the barrel of Brent had a price of 75,6 $. This is an increase of 0,3 $/gun compared to the previous week.
A lot of increase too weak so that it can have a real repercussion on prices. We now have to wait to see if motorists will again suffer a situation where the price of the liter approaches two eurosor not.
To monitor the situation live, the government has also set up a platform to know the fuel prices of nearby stations.
