Sunday 1is December 2024, the last day of the first phase of the different rugby championships of Occitania was on the program.
The opportunity to draw up a premiere billan for the ten Lauragais clubs which are involved in Regional 1, 2 and 3 this season.
Regional 1
The two clubs competing at the highest regional level suffered in this first part of the season. In pool 1, Revel will have to fight to obtain its maintenance. The RCR has only won two matches during this first leg and is already five points behind the first non-relegation team.
The Lauragais club pays in particular for a certain porosity of its defense with a average of almost 30 points conceded per match. Among the reasons for optimism, however: the schedule of the Revélois during the second phase seems more favorable since they will welcome two of their direct opponents for maintenance, Poussan and Uzès. But before that, we will have to win on Sunday December 15 on the lawn of the red lantern, Mauguio Carnon, who has not won a single match since the start of the championship.
In pool 2, Fail also appears in the second part of the table and is currently three steps ahead of the first relegation. With eight points behind fourth place, USV seems quite far from the wagon of candidates for the final stages, but is not completely out of the running either. We will have to hope for a good series to take shelter once and for all and why not hope for better. The turning point could perhaps come on December 15 during the reception of the leader Saint-Juéry.
Regional 2
It is in Regional 2 that the Lauragais clubs are most represented. And in particular in pool 4 where we find Caraman, Labastide-Beauvoir, Saint-Orens, Quint-Fonsegrives et Ramonville-Saint-Agne.
At the end of the first leg, it is the Caramanese who are best placed. The players of Michel Blanc et Geoffrey Slimane occupy second place with already 14 points behind leader Fleury Salles Coursan who is flying over his subject. Ramonville-Saint-Agne (3e), Saint-Orens-de-Gameville (5e) and Quint-Fonsegrives (6e) are in ambush for qualification. On the other hand, it is much more complicated for Labastide-Beauvoir which is in last place in the ranking of this group with already seven points behind its main competitor for maintenance.
Sunday December 15, two derbies will be on the program to kick off this return phase: Quint-Fonsegrives / Labastide-Beauvoir et Ramonville-Saint-Agne / Saint-Orens-de-Gameville. The Caraman rugby players will receive their counterparts from Portet-sur-Garonne on the lawn of the Roger-Bourgarel stadium.
In pool 5, Auterive (5e with 23 points) and Hers Lauragais (6e with 18 points) are in the soft stomach. But they can still legitimately believe in qualifying for the final stages. Sunday December 15, Auterive will host Montréjeau while Hers Lauragais will host Eauze in Calmont.
Regional 3
Finally, two Lauragais clubs are also battling it out in Pool 4 of Regional 3. At the end of this first leg, Villenouvelle occupies third place and can hope to qualify for the final stages in the spring. Especially since the ESV remains on four victories in a row and is only two points behind the group leader, Limoux, where the Lauragais club will travel on Sunday December 15.
Pour Villeneuve-la-Comptalthe first part of the season was more difficult. The Audois are in penultimate position in the standings with only one victory on the clock.
