Pierre Palmade did not appeal his sentence to five years of imprisonment, including two years, after a violent road accident under drugs, pronounced on November 20 by the criminal court of Melun, the prosecutor of this Ile-de-France jurisdiction.
The 56-year-old comedian will be “ summoned soon » by the public prosecutor’s office in Bordeaux, where he resides, for the execution of his sentence, the public prosecutor of this city, Frédérique Porterie, also told AFP.
The Bordeaux prosecutor specifies that she “ does not plan to communicate on the date of summons before the prosecution nor on the date of incarceration » by Pierre Palmade, who “ has the right, like any convicted person, to respect for his private life« .
On November 20, the Melun court found Pierre Palmade guilty of involuntary injury to a family in the violent collision he caused on a road in Seine-et-Marne, while driving under the influence of drugs.
On February 10, 2023, getting behind the wheel after three days of using drugs without sleeping, the actor collided with a car traveling in the opposite lane.
Three people were seriously injured by the impact: a 38-year-old man, his six-year-old son and his 27-year-old sister-in-law who, pregnant, had lost the child she was expecting after the impact.
This tragedy is one road injury accident among the 52,000 recorded in mainland France that year. But the notoriety of the popular artist with a sympathetic image will trigger a media storm, revealing the dark side of a man mired in drug addiction.
In accordance with the prosecution’s requisitions, the judges sentenced the comedian and actor to five years in prison, three of which were suspended on probation. For the two years, the court issued a committal warrant with deferred effect.
Once incarcerated, Pierre Palmade will be able to “ formulate a request for sentence modification which will be submitted to the decision of a sentence enforcement judge » at the end of an adversarial hearing, recalled the Bordeaux prosecutor’s office the day after the actor’s conviction.
