A few weeks before Christmas, a terrible fire ravaged a family's house on the night of Thursday November 28 to Friday November 29, in Villeneuve-d'Ascq (North). Fortunately, the two people present at the time of the incident, a mother and her 16-month-old baby, were unharmed, reports France 3 Hauts-de-France.
Awakened by the smoke detector alarm around 2:30 a.m., the woman was able to get out of the blaze in time with her child and alert the emergency services. His companion, on a business trip, arrived around 8 a.m. “It was a real trauma for her”he told the regional channel.
An online fundraiser to help the family
The house was completely destroyed by the flames. The roof of a terraced house also went up in smoke. The family has for the moment found refuge with relatives. “Given the extent of the damage, we will not find our house for at least a year”believes the father.
An online fundraiser was launched and has already raised just over 10,000 euros this Monday thanks to 254 donors. “The money will be used to cover the first urgent expenses: finding a place to live, buying clothes and food, and starting to rebuild what they lost”we can read in the text which accompanies this initiative.
