The explosion occurred around 1:15 p.m. in a house located at Impasse du Canal in Saint-Vérand, near Saint-Marcellin in Isère.
The two occupants of the house were seriously injured during the detonation. With second-degree burns, an 88-year-old man was transported to Grenoble's northern hospital by a civil security helicopter, and hospitalized in the shock recovery department.
His 77-year-old wife was transported by ambulance by the SAMU to Grenoble University Hospital, also to the unloading department.
