After significant increases in recent years, motorway operating companies are announcing a lower increase for 2025.
The increase in toll prices looks set to be reasonable in 2025. After an increase of 4.75% in 2023, and 3% this year, motorway companies will only increase toll prices by barely 1% in 2025, almost half as much, probably as inflation.
Be careful, this remains an average. Some motorways will have even lower increases: ASF and Escota have announced increases of 0.77% for their tolls. To give an idea, a Paris-Marseille currently costs up to 68 euros. On February 1, it will be 62 cents more.
Why such modest increases?
This decision comes before the announced end of their contract signed with the State. This is a way of demonstrating goodwill for future negotiations. From 2031, the contracts of the companies which manage the various French motorways will gradually expire and new contracts will be required.

Discouraging renationalization?
The seven concessionaires, owned by three groups (Vinci, Eiffage and Abertis), will have to invest up to more than 10 billion euros to return the motorways to good condition by the end of their contracts, which range between 2031 and 2036, estimates the Transport Regulatory Authority (ART), in a report published on Saturday. A way to tell the State that they are doing a good job and put themselves in a position of strength before the negotiations.
