When Mathilde found herself outside in the middle of the night, with her 15-month-old little boy in her arms, she needed composure to raise the alarm. The fire probably started from a short circuit in an electrical panel, then quickly the interior of the house was devoured by flames and invaded by smoke. It took the intervention of several fire stations, notably those of Villeneuve d'Ascq and Lezennes, to put an end to the disaster. The roof of the neighboring house was also reduced to ashes. It was also its occupant who, called for help by Mathilde, tried in vain to limit the damage, while waiting for the fire brigade to arrive.
A restless night for this district at the entrance to the city called Hempempont, between Hem and Villeneuve d'Ascq, near the site of the old “haunted house”.
And a very long night for Mathilde, taking refuge in her car to attend the operations after entrusting her little one to her grandparents, while her partner was on a business trip. ” It was a real trauma for her.“, Simon tells us. “I didn't get home until eight in the morning and fortunately Mathieu, our neighbor, was by his side to channel his stress.”
The young couple and their baby are currently staying with the family. “An expert must pass to assess the rental value of the home and compensate us to allow us to relocate while the work is carried out. Given the extent of the damage, we won't get our house back for at least a year.“
