Hello dear readers. Here are four things to remember this Thursday, November 28:

2-Franco-Algerian Agreement of 1968: Bruno Retailleau returns to the charge
3-ICC arrest warrant: “ immunity » for Netanyahu in France
4-Champions League: Bensebaïni scorer and man of the match
Algeria: Boualem Sansal accused of espionage
Arrested on November 16 at Algiers airport when he had just arrived from France, Boualem Sansal was placed under arrest warrant by the investigating judge of the Dar El Beïda court (Algiers).
According to Ennahar, the Franco-Algerian writer is accused, among other things, of spying for the benefit of foreign parties. He was notably questioned about his recent statements on the history and borders of Algeria with Morocco.
In an interview with the far-right site Frontières, Boualem Sansal affirmed that part of western Algeria was part of Morocco before independence and that it was France which attached it to Algeria.
According to his French lawyer, Sansal is also being prosecuted for endangering the integrity of the national territory, a charge which falls under article 87 bis of the Algerian Penal Code.
Towards the abrogation of the Franco-Algerian agreement of 1968?
The French Minister of the Interior, Bruno Retailleau, returned to the charge on Wednesday on the unilateral denunciation of the 1968 agreement which governs immigration in France.
« Personally, I will be in favor of this denunciation », declared Bruno Retailleau before a Senate committee, estimating that this agreement grants a right “ exorbitant » to Algerian nationals that “ nothing justifies anymore ».
« Algeria has been flying on its own for years and that’s good. Perhaps the service we could do ourselves is to forget each other. This is just my opinion “, he said.
Upon his appointment as Minister of the Interior at the end of September, Bruno Retailleau reiterated the position he held before entering the government to repeal the 1968 agreement.
ICC arrest warrant: “ immunity » by Netanyahu in France
The International Criminal Court issued two international arrest warrants last Thursday against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza.
Many Western countries such as Italy, Belgium and the Netherlands have announced that they will respect the decision of the international court.
But others like the United States and Hungary refuse to apply it. In France, the question of the application of the ICC decision divides.
While Prime Minister Michel Barnier said Tuesday, November 26 before Parliament that Paris “ will rigorously apply (…) its obligations under international law », without specifying whether the Israeli Prime Minister would be arrested if he visited France.
On Wednesday, the foreign minister clarified, indicating that Netanyahu benefited from a “ immunity » due to the fact that his country is not a signatory to the Rome Statute which requires full cooperation with the International Criminal Court (ICC).
« Such immunities apply to Prime Minister Netanyahu and other relevant ministers and will need to be taken into consideration should the ICC request their arrest and surrender. “, declared the Quai d’Orsay in a press release.
According to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz, it was the Israeli government which demanded and obtained this immunity in exchange for France’s participation in discussions on the ceasefire in Lebanon.
Champions League: Bensebaïni scorer and man of the match
After Anis Hadj Moussa’s XXL performance with Feyenoord against Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday, another Algerian international shone on Wednesday during the 5th day of the most prestigious European football competition.
This is Borussia Dortmund defender Ramy Bensebaïni. Starting against Dinamo Zagreb on Wednesday evening, he scored a goal for his team which won the match with a score of 3-0.
While Borussia Dortmund led one goal to zero since the 41st minute, the 29-year-old Algerian international gave his team the advantage at a key moment of the match (2-0, 56th).
The German club ended up scoring a third goal in stoppage time. Author of a goal and a good performance in defense, Ramy Bensebaïni was elected man of the match.
