Lhe Israeli media environment has been shaken for several days by the decision of the Israeli government this Sunday, November 24 to impose a boycott of the newspaper Haaretz by any state agency because of “the numerous editorials which have damaged the legitimacy of the State of Israel and its right to self-defense, and in particular the remarks made in London by the owner of HaaretzAmos Schocken, who support terrorism and call for sanctions against the government. The daily responded by denouncing “a new step in Netanyahu’s journey to dismantle Israeli democracy” and assuring that he “will not give in and will not turn into a government prospectus.”
