Manchester City have now played six games in a row without winning.
Their latest outing saw Pep Guardiola’s side draw 3-3 with Feyenoord in the Champions League at the Etihad Stadium.
City were 3-0 up after 53 minutes thanks to goals from Erling Haaland and Ilkay Gundogan before then going on to concede three goals in the space of 14 minutes.
Alan Shearer dubbed it an “absolute disaster” for City, who headed into this game off the back of five consecutive defeats.
At the end of the game, a key figure in City’s squad who played a significant role in Tuesday’s game was not shy when it came to sharing thoughts on the draw and the club’s current situation in a wider sense.
Ilkay Gundogan pulls no punches after Man City draw with Feyenoord
Speaking to The Guardian after the final whistle blew, Gundogan didn’t mince his words when asked about this latest match and his side’s recent form in general.
He said: “So quickly after the game I don’t have the answers. The goals we conceded are inexplicable, in terms of the way we conceded them. There is only ourselves to blame.
“The situation, I don’t know, the way things are going right now, it is a bit inexplicable.
“Sometimes you struggle in games, no matter who the opponent is. Even when you play at home against a side you should dominate, you will concede chances because every team is good enough right now to create.
“But 75 minutes, 3-0 up, controlling, then giving it away so easily. They were ruthless. It’s probably more us to blame but they punished us in every situation they got, scoring three. It’s very tough to take.”
Nathan Ake said City invited too much pressure on themselves against Feyenoord
Gundogan isn’t the only City player from the starting XI on Tuesday night to share their thoughts on what went wrong for the Blues, as Nathan Ake assessed City’s draw with Feyenoord, saying this about their disastrous final 20 minutes.
He said: “You just have to stay strong mentally. At 3-1, they then push on but I think we need to go for it a bit earlier so we could keep the pressure on them, but we stayed playing at the back and maybe invited more pressure on us.
“Then when you concede the second one there is even more pressure and then we have to stay stronger mentally.”

With Gundogan now airing his frustrations about this latest self-induced setback City have been handed, it’s clear that despite not losing a sixth game in a row, this draw to Feyenoord still feels like a defeat to the players who have grown accustomed to winning trophies in recent years.
Moving forward, with a crucial Premier League match against Liverpool at Anfield awaiting the Manchester club on Sunday, this would be the perfect way for them to get back on track if they are able to do what they haven’t done in a while and secure a victory.
