In Nîmes, six trucks from the Food Bank were set on fire on the night of Wednesday 27 to Thursday 28 November 2024, indicates theAFP. The association estimates the damage at €480,000.

“We are shocked and disappointed. This is a malicious act, confirmed by images from video surveillance cameras, and we have filed a complaint,” assured Claudine Faure-Comte, project manager of the Gard Food Bank.

For their part, the police confirmed toAFP the registration of a complaint but not the criminal origin of the fire, which destroyed four refrigerated trucks and two other larger ones.

A call for donations launched

On social networks, the Gard Food Bank launched a call for donations to be able to continue to carry out its mission with 91 partner associations.

“Every week, from Monday to Friday, the Gard Food Bank travels to supermarkets with these trucks to carry out collections. This morning, the volunteers still carried out the tour with their own car,” confided Claudine Faure-Comte.
