The City of Val-d’Or comes to an agreement with its 210 blue and white collar workers, affiliated with the Canadian Union of Public Employees. The new collective agreement will last for 7 years and will end on November 30, 2029.
It provides for salary increases of between 2.5% and 4% per year, which will total 21.5% at the end of the employment contract.
The application of a compressed schedule throughout the year, the increase in certain bonuses, the improvement of the leave bank as well as the improvement of vacations and the group insurance plan are among the main negotiated clauses.
“We are very pleased with the renewal of this collective agreement which offers our employees conditions that better reflect the current labor market, while ensuring the quality of services offered to the population. We thus wish to strengthen the attractiveness of the City as an employer and promote staff retention. I congratulate and thank both parties for this important negotiation work which took place in a climate of listening and respect,” declared the mayor, Céline Brindamour.
It was on November 12 that municipal employees voted on the agreement in principle which was supported by 91%. It was adopted during the November 18 meeting of the Val-d’Or municipal council.
