The police were dispatched to the parking lot of a restaurant located in the area of ​​Promenade Place d’Orléans and Boulevard Saint-Joseph around 11:15 p.m. on November 16, regarding a man who allegedly attacked several people and damaged vehicles. He was allegedly in possession of a bladed weapon, according to certain reports.

The suspect in this case, a 33-year-old man from Ottawa, was injured by firearm projectiles from a police officer. The Ontario Special Investigations Unit is also investigating this matter.

Five people were injured in the alleged attacks, some of whom suffered serious injuries. It was later determined that their lives were not in danger.

The alleged assailant remains in hospital in stable condition.

The suspect also faces five charges of aggravated assault, 12 charges of assault with a weapon, one charge of assaulting a police officer, two charges of carrying a concealed weapon, seven charges of mischief causing damage material, 20 charges of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public and one charge of obstructing the work of a police officer.
