The troubles keep coming for Hisler, a bookstore located in the historic center of Metz. Forced into technical unemployment since the fire which ravaged part of its building on the night of November 16 to 17, the business was also the victim of a burglary on the night of Tuesday to Wednesday.
According to our information, several valuable objects were stolen, including Mont-Blanc pens which were in the window. A wooden door allowing access to the bookstore was forced open during the night. On site, the surrounding traders were surprised to see the police in the early morning. Others learned the bad news during the day.
However, few people say they are surprised by this news: “Unfortunately, it was only a matter of days. The building is unattended and the security systems have been rendered inoperable due to the fire,” one of them explains fatalistically.
The door lock was replaced during the day, but the damage caused by the fire has still not allowed the bookstore to resume its activity. Although the business was spared, the fire that started from the cellars in rue Ambroise-Thomas as well as the water used by the firefighters to put it out seriously damaged the structure of the building. A situation which forced the town hall to issue an order prohibiting public access “until further notice”. The burglars did not deprive themselves…
