The native of Céret (Pyrénées-Orientales) retired in 2020 after making biathlon history, winning numerous titles.

A new reward – and not the least important – to put in an already well-stocked trophy cabinet. This Tuesday, November 26, French champion Martin Fourcade learned that he is no longer “only” five-time, but six-time Olympic biathlon champion. He has indeed just won a gold medal, four years after the end of his career and 14 years after the race in question.

This Tuesday, the latter was officially found guilty of doping by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which rejected his latest appeal. Consequence: all its results obtained between 2010 and 2014 are canceled. Martin Fourcade, initially second, therefore recovers the gold medal even if, for the moment, unofficially.

The BIU and the IBU welcome the decision issued by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the Biological Passport case of Mr Evgeny Ustyugov.

The CAS Appeals Division has upheld the findings of the Anti-Doping Division of CAS.

Indeed, the Russian Ustyugov can still hope for an appeal, even if complicated, before the Swiss Federal Court.

In the event of another refusal, Fourcade would thus be, more than ever, the most successful French athlete at the Olympic Games, summer and winter combined: seven medals, including six gold.
