The accident took place late Monday afternoon in a street in the center of Montilly-sur-Noireau. If the exact circumstances are not yet known, the Orne gendarmerie specifies that the victim was killed by his own vehicle, which crushed him. The pedestrian died on the spot, despite the intervention of 11 firefighters from the Condé sur Noireau and Flers emergency centers.
One of the hypotheses is that the vehicle’s handbrake was improperly applied. This situation is not that rare. Three other similar accidents were noted during the year by the police. A slight slope may be enough to carry a car. In this case, it is better not to try to hold your car or try to get into it if it is moving. The gendarmerie advises, once the vehicle is parked, to ensure that you engage a gear to avoid any risk of slipping.
