The prefecture has placed many forest areas in Hérault, Gard, Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales on orange alert due to fire risks. Access to them is not recommended.

The orange alert for forest fires is extended for this Wednesday, July 3. Many forest areas in Languedoc-Roussillon are affected. This means that access to these areas is strongly discouraged. It is also forbidden to light a fire there.

In Hérault, the orange alert includes the cities of Béziers and Montpellier. The municipality of the latter has indicated that the Lunaret zoo will remain open. On the other hand, access to the Lez reserve and the Montmaur woods is prohibited.

In the Gard too, part of the territory is placed on “orange alert”. The alert concerns the massifs of Gard Rhodanien, Garrigues, and the Petite Camargue.

In Aude, the entire coastline and part of the hinterland are on orange alert this Wednesday. Already, this Tuesday, July 2, a fire broke out in Sigean, near the African reserve, due to very strong winds.
