NASA's Dragonfly mission plans to explore Saturn's largest moon: Titan. On the menu: take material samples and determine the composition of the surface. The goal is to advance the search for the building blocks of life. It is the SpaceX company which will provide the equipment necessary to carry out this mission which is part of the New Frontiers program. A drone-type vehicle will be used to explore Titan's surface to determine its habitability.

Important mission

The device should, among other things, help provide data concerning the evolution of the prebiotic chemistry of this hydrocarbon-rich environment. Titan interests scientists for several reasons. Saturn's largest moon could eventually be explored and possibly become a destination for manned voyages. The Dragonfly mission will launch in July 2028 aboard a SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket from Launch Complex 39A at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.
