Young motorcycle prodigy Pedro Acosta continues to impress not only with his performance on the track, but also with his ability to absorb and apply technical knowledge. Paul Trevathan, the Spaniard’s team principal, recently revealed behind-the-scenes details of Acosta’s adaptation to the technical demands of MotoGP, highlighting the rider’s unique talent.

Trevathan recalled the immediate impact Acosta made when he joined the championship, in an interview with Crash: ‘There was a lot of press at the time and things like that, but the part inside the box was amazement at how much he could take, how much he was already willing to put so much information into the shortest time and then put them into practice.’

Acosta has also demonstrated a surprising talent for mastering advanced motorcycle technology systems. Trevathan explained that, for the rider, understanding the bike’s electronic controls felt as natural as… playing on a console: ‘Like all the gadgets on the bike, all the switches, it was like a Playstation: he would go through everything and how he could express himself and what we could say to him in the shortest time, and then he would go out and do just that.’

Rookie in 2024, Acosta has gained the trust of KTM to promote him to the factory team, where he will have Brad Binder as a teammate.
