Marc Márquez joined Gresini in MotoGP this year after going through several difficult seasons. The “ordeal” that began with his serious injury in 2020 continued into 2023, compounded by other injuries and Honda's poor performance.

The rider made the choice to join a satellite team with a clear mission: to rediscover his good feelings on the bike, to prove that he could still be competitive and to fight for good results.

And he succeeded. Márquez finished the championship in third place and took three victories, becoming the main rival of the season's two dominant riders — champion Jorge Martín (Prima Pramac/Ducati) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati).

The eight-time world champion, quoted by the Marca newspaper, stressed that 2024 was a year of achievements despite the absence of a title — neither the overall championship nor the independent drivers' crown:

I told Gresini this: We didn't win a title, but we won so much more this year. I managed to find myself and extend my sporting career. I had ghosts in my head, doubts that were resolved in a very good way. I will try to continue with this happiness because when you are happy, you are fast.
