A double infanticide followed by suicide. Such is the tragic unfolding of the family drama that occurred this Tuesday, November 26 at Les Avirons. It was the mother of the two girls aged 4 and 7 who alerted the authorities this morning after receiving worrying messages from her partner.
It is the trail of a double infanticide followed by suicide which is favored in the investigation opened by the Saint-Pierre public prosecutor's office, after the discovery of the lifeless bodies of a man and his two daughters aged 4 and 7 years old, at Les Avirons.
According to the first elements reported to AFP by a source close to the case, it was the mother of the two children, a teacher then at her workplace at the Port, who called the gendarmes after receiving worrying messages from her partner, this Tuesday, November 26, around 9:00 a.m.
Dispatched to the site, at a villa on rue du Stade, the soldiers discovered in a shed on the property the remains of the couple's children, as well as the body of the father who, according to the first elements collected, would have committed suicide after killing them.
Elements which were also confirmed in Réunion the 1st by a source close to the investigation, then by the Saint-Pierre public prosecutor's office, at the end of the day. The judicial authority adds that the autopsies of the bodies will be carried out in the coming days in order to clarify the exact causes of death in this open investigation into the murder of minors aged 15.
As a reminder, the investigations were entrusted to the Saint-Pierre research brigade and the Saint-Denis research section. Very shocked after hearing the news of the death of her children, the mother had to be hospitalized during the day.
The whole town is shocked by this family tragedy. At midday, on Réunion La 1ère, Mayor Eric Ferrère announced the establishment of a psychological support unit in the two establishments frequented by the young victims, namely the Paul Hermann and Charles Emile Christ.
“Two children, innocent lives full of promise, were taken from this world“, declared the elected official who was on site at the beginning of the afternoon. The prefect Patrice Latron and the rector Rostane Mehdi also expressed their emotion following this terrible tragedy. A tragedy which remains unexplained for the moment.
