Faced with controls deemed excessive, delays in CAP (Common Agricultural Policy) payments, and a growing feeling of administrative harassment and Mercosur, Côte-d'Or farmers are mobilizing again this week. Organized by the FDSEA (Departmental Federation of Agricultural Operators' Unions) and the Rural Coordination, these actions aim to challenge the authorities and defend the agricultural world, already weakened by multiple crises.
Targeted actions
Tuesday, November 26: A first mobilization will be held in Montbard at 8 p.m., in front of the premises of the French Office for Biodiversity (OFB). Farmers denounce unannounced checks deemed intrusive, sometimes carried out while armed. Through symbolic deposits of manure and straw, they call for more prevention and peaceful relations between farmers and inspectors.
Thursday, November 28: Another gathering is planned for 2 p.m. in front of the premises of the ASP (Services and Payment Agency) in Dijon. This event targets the chronic delays in the payments of CAP aid, essential to the cash flow of agricultural operations. Participants are also calling for a simplification of administrative procedures to relieve a sector already facing major economic and environmental challenges.
These demonstrations reflect fed up with an accumulation of difficulties: regulatory pressure, financial uncertainties, and climate challenges. Farmers are calling for concrete measures, in particular payment deadlines respected for CAP aid, less intrusive controls, more focused on prevention and better consideration of the realities of agricultural work in the design of public policies.
