Trends come and go, sometimes as quickly as they arrived on the scene. In 2024 for example, vintage is one of the most fashionable styles after having been left in the closet for a long time. And this, in all areas. Even the first names are tinged with nostalgia. While some small names no longer find traction among young parents, others so adored by our ancestors are seeing their image restored.

And know that this pattern is also reproduced in our homes. A few months ago, the Scandinavian decorative style was the one to adopt to obtain a fashionable interior. Today, the latter has taken a back seat to make way for the objects that made our parents, or even our grandmothers, happy. Among the latter, we find in particular vinyl records. Much more than a large black disc emitting , these objects are now real decorative elements. However, for the more melancholic, many brands are bringing the record player up to date. The goal? Listen to your favorite songs without having to transfer the sound from your vinyl record to a newer CD. Many of us still have them. And you know what? Some are resold at a golden price. We reveal which ones to you.

These vinyl records are the most sought after by music and vintage enthusiasts

At your grandparents’ or even your parents’ house, the attic can be a place where finds accumulate. You can find furniture or decorative objects there that are worth an exorbitant price today. And sometimes you can even (re)discover record collections that collect dust. Whether you have a record player in your home or not, know that it is best to first examine them carefully before throwing them away.

Like many bottles of wine, vinyl records can increase in value over the years. There are titles, more than others, that can delight enthusiasts. And to obtain them, they are ready to pay crazy amounts of money. The first is none other than the 78 rpm
That’ll Be The Day/ In Spite of All Danger de The
Quarrymen
. Pressed in 1958, this hit is the work of the iconic trio composed of John Lennon, Paul McCartney and George Harrison. Another popular vinyl record: Double
Fantasy
signed John Lennon and Yoko Ono
. This CD follows a tragic event: the death of the ex-member of The Beatles. In 2024, its amount exceeds 400,000 euros. The list of the most expensive vinyl records for resale ends with the song Music For Supermarkets by Jean-Michel Jarre. For what ? Well, quite simply because the pressing matrix of this disc would have been destroyed in the presence of a bailiff.

Placing a vinyl record in a record player

Currently, the prices of these vinyl records vary. However, these exceed colossal sums. If you have one of these at home, you can resell them for the price of certain houses. Yes, yes, you are not dreaming.

For the first 78 rpm mentioned above, count around $233,000, or 222,340 euros. The second is surely the most expensive in history because it can be resold from 337,000 euros. For the vinyl record signed Jean-Michel Jarre, on the other hand, you can obtain the sum of $30,000, or 28,632 euros.

If these vinyl records are not part of your collection, no problem. Even if you can’t resell yours for that much, criteria can still allow you to raise resale prices.

Besides rarity, the story around the tube you own can make all the difference. Same thing for the originality of the pressing. To consider your vinyl record as an original copy, check the pressing date, master numbers, cover art, condition, sound, as well as stickers, annotations and logos.
