On November 24, 2024, a fire broke out in an Airbnb accommodation in Bas-Rhin. A 10-year-old girl was seriously injured.
She was evacuated at the last minute through the skylight in her room. During the night from Saturday to Sunday, reports France blue, a fire broke out in an Airbnb accommodation in Bas-Rhin.
Stuck in the attic
Firefighters arrived on scene around 5 a.m. The fire started in a small house in the town of Furdenheim, occupied by a family for a short period: four children and their two parents.
For a reason still unknown, a fire broke out at the end of the night, surprising the sleepers in their sleep.
Although the residents were able to be evacuated without too much difficulty, a little girl aged 10, who was sleeping under the attic, got stuck. Firefighters had to extract him from the burning building through the skylight.
Several injured
The young victim was then in cardiorespiratory arrest. She was resuscitated on site and then transported to absolute emergency at the Hautepierre hospital in Strasbourg. She was then in a coma.
Around twenty people were also evacuated as a safety measure. The community center was able to collect the victims. Five other occupants of the scene were taken to hospital with relatively minor injuries.
The fire was put out in the morning. An investigation has been opened to determine the causes of the tragedy.
One of the evacuated families has still not been able to return to their homes. The cause: a CO2 level that is still too high in the house.
