This Monday afternoon, a large fire broke out in the Saint-Romain commercial area in Anse (Rhône), destroying several buildings. The fire, fanned by violent gusts of wind, required the mobilization of 90 firefighters.
Shortly before 2 p.m. this Monday, November 25, an imposing column of black smoke invaded the sky over Anse, visible from the A6 motorway. The fire broke out in an indoor sports complex before quickly spreading to several neighboring businesses, including a car garage, a 2CV rental company, and a cabaret located on the outskirts of the area.
Fanned by violent winds, the fire spread over an area of 2,000 m², making the intervention of firefighters particularly difficult. Despite the deployment of 90 firefighters and 32 intervention vehicles, the Sud SDMIS Union denounced a lack of reinforcements. “Four additional fire vans were requested, but they were unable to obtain them due to lack of available personnel,” specifies a union representative.
So far no injuries have been reported. However, the material damage is colossal. Several buildings in the commercial area were completely destroyed, and the thick smoke, visible several kilometers away, temporarily disrupted traffic on the A6, which had to be closed for several minutes.
