Some 120 tonnes of dates illegally stored in a cold storage warehouse in Ben Arous were unearthed yesterday, Sunday, November 24, by security units in the region, the General Directorate of National Security announced.

The value of the seized goods is estimated at more than one million dinars, indicates the same source. The latter adds that the raid was carried out following information transmitted to the security units of the Ben Arous municipal police brigade.

Still according to the General Directorate of National Security, the operation was calibrated with the assistance of the Regional Commerce Directorate, before handing over to the police units. On site, the police noted a series of irregularities: absence of labeling on the cold rooms, of a register of stock movements and of documents attesting to the legality of their storage, etc.
