Two fires in 24 hours in Rawdon: a suspect sought by the police

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) is seeking the public's help to identify a suspect in a series of arsons in Rawdon, in the Lanaudière region.

Two businesses located on Romolco Street, near de l'Industrie Street, were targeted by arson attacks in less than 24 hours over the weekend.

Friday evening around 9:30 p.m., a tart shop was targeted by an arson attack, while the next day shortly before midnight an adjoining mechanics garage was in turn targeted.

The two fires which targeted two businesses in two adjoining buildings were quickly brought under control by firefighters and no one was injured during these events.

During the two fires, the suspect, who “smashed a window, poured gasoline inside before igniting an object and throwing it into the building,” said the SQ.

“He was wearing a black coat, a white hooded sweater under his coat, a black hood, black pants, as well as black sports shoes with white soles,” said the SQ.
