residents are invited to honor volunteers who stand out through their commitment to their community by nominating them for the Hommagevoluntaire-Québec awards.

The registration period lasts until December 5.

“Volunteering is much more than a simple gesture of mutual aid, it is living proof that solidarity can transform our communities,” says Chantal Rouleau, Minister responsible for Social Solidarity and Community Action, press release. […] I therefore invite the population to submit applications for these awards, since we find, in all regions of Quebec, committed people and organizations who deserve this recognition.”

Applications can be submitted in three categories:

  • Volunteerto pay tribute to people aged 36 and over;
  • Bodyto recognize the action of non-profit organizations that support volunteer engagement within their community;
  • Young volunteer – Claude-Masson prizewhich particularly aims to highlight the commitment of people aged 14 to 35.

The nomination form and all other useful information are available at Québec.ca/prixbénévolat.

Following the submission period, an independent selection committee will choose around forty winners from among all the profiles received. An awards ceremony will then be organized in spring 2025 during National Volunteer Week.

Remember that 77% of Quebecers aged 15 or over volunteer, whether in the form of supervised or informal activities. On average, each volunteer devotes 189 hours to volunteering annually, which is equivalent to 533,100 full-time jobs. (N.P.)
