It’s a name that left its mark. Jean-Pierre Descombes died at his home this Sunday, June 30, as his son Romain Descombes announcedAFP. The television personality had been suffering from Parkinson’s disease for several years. He withdrew from media life in order to devote himself to his health but he left his mark. In the 1970s and 1980s, Jean-Pierre Descombes was omnipresent on the air of FR3, the former name of France 3. Viewers were able to see him again between 1976 and 1987 as he hosted The 8 p.m. Games which have become very popular. During it, general knowledge questions were asked of these celebrities and anonymous people.
After hosting this cult show for a long time, viewers were able to find Jean-Pierre Descombes behind the camera. He was the voice-over artist for hit entertainment shows in the 1980s and 1990s. We can notably cite: The right price or A gold family

In April 2023, the host was transparent about his daily life, which is not always easy. “For 10 years I tried to hide this problem and then it got worse every day” , he began. He then spoke about the day his illness was revealed to the general public, while he was filming a prime time show alongside Cyril Hanouna.It was during the evening I was the last to go around 1am and the pills I had taken were no longer effective.“, he remembered.
Jean-Pierre Descombes’ health was deteriorating and it was at that moment that he understood that he could no longer hide.When the cameras are there, they can detect a movement that I can hide on a podium or in a big party that I host, but on TV you can’t…“he lamented. At the time of this interview, the former host had expressed his intention to continue fighting.One day everything is fine, you are the king of the world and then the next day, we don’t know why, you are completely exhausted.”, he explained. Illness took over Jean-Pierre Descombes, who will never be forgotten.
Jean-Pierre Descombes: a sick man but well surrounded
Jean-Pierre Descombes was fighting illness but he said he was well looked after. His first support being his wife. “For her it’s not funnywe relax when we are at home, we don’t have the spring we have when we are on stage”he explained. The former host then revealed that it was important to his loved ones that he did not appear on television in this state.
“That’s not a picture you should show.”, they would have told him. Far from the media coverage, Jean-Pierre Descombes still used his notoriety to talk about his fight. “We must be stronger than that, we must resist,” he said.
