The left engine caught fire when the Azimuth Airlines Sukhoi Superjet-100 landed at Antalya airport in southern Turkey, BFM reports.
More than 90 passengers and crew members were evacuated this Sunday, November 24, 2024. The fire was fortunately extinguished quickly. The causes of the fire are not yet known, and the Russian aviation federation, Rosaviatsiya, said it was investigating the accident, reports Reuters, taken up by the Huffington Post.
No injuries
“89 passengers and 6 crew members who were on board were evacuated safely at 9:43 p.m. and there were no injuries”according to the ministry. The plane was arriving from Sochi, a Russian seaside resort.
Landings at Antalya airport were suspended until three local hours this Monday, November 25, 2024, details the Huffington Post. The departing planes were sent to the airport's military runway, according to the ministry.
