If the vice-president of the RN Louis Aliot affirmed this Monday, July 1st, that the president of the Republicans Éric Ciotti “will most certainly participate in the government of national unity” in the event of an absolute majority, he expressed more doubts about the presence of Marion Maréchal.

An RN “wave”. This is how the first vice-president of the National Rally, Louis Aliot, described the results of the first round of the early legislative elections this Monday, July 1 on France Inter. His party and its allies came in first with 10,625,662 votes or 33.14% of the vote, ahead of the New Popular Front (27.99%) and well ahead of the presidential camp (20.04%).

The mayor of Perpignan now believes that “we will have to propose to a certain number of personalities to come and constitute this government”, “in priority to the 30-40 LR deputies who will be present in the Assembly”.

The contested president of the Republicans, Éric Ciotti, who made an alliance with the RN despite the reluctance of certain members of his party? “He will most certainly participate in this government of national unity,” replies Louis Aliot.

But what about Marion Maréchal who was excluded from Éric Zemmour’s Reconquest party after the European elections? The vice-president of the RN declares that he does not “know” if the MEP will be part of it, adding that he “does not think”.

“I think Jordan Bardella doesn’t want to do that,” he said.

There is one week left for the National Rally, which Louis Aliot considers “decisive”, to obtain an absolute majority and thus constitute “a government of national unity”.

Louis Aliot specifies that the constitution of a possible government led by Jordan Bardella is being “considered”. The latter has also affirmed that he would refuse to be appointed head of government if he only obtains a relative majority (less than 289 deputies) on July 7.

“If you have 250 MPs and little chance of getting texts adopted, there is no point in just making up the numbers (…) It has to be looked at on a case-by-case basis, there is a threshold where it is governable,” he declared without being able to specify this threshold.

To obtain this absolute majority, Louis Aliot says he is confident. “We still have a reserve of votes in people who did not vote for us in the first (round, editor’s note) but who will join us in the second (round, editor’s note) to beat the left, I am convinced,” said he declared. A reserve of votes that he considers particularly present in the Republican electorate.

The mayor of Perpignan also says “he does not believe in the Republican front” called in these terms by Emmanuel Macron and requested by Jean-Luc Mélenchon.

“It is local situations that will prevail over national slogans. (…) Voters no longer respond to these slogans, even the left,” he says, judging it “utopian” that Renaissance voters vote for candidates from the New Popular Front and vice versa.
